Hi All!

Edit: Thank you everyone for all the great advice! I’ll definitely take it into consideration. I know my plan is a bit aggressive, and I’m prepared for a lot of travel time. I usually walk around 20K to 30K a day on my vacations, so I’m used to being on my feet!

I’m planning a solo trip to Taiwan this October for 13 full days, and I’m very excited! My main focus will be on i culture, nature, and, of course, food. I’ve previously traveled to South Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, and Hong Kong.

I won’t be renting any car or scooter during my stay (only bike or e-bike \^\^).

I understand that many trails in Hualien/Taroko Gorge might still be closed through the end of the year , so I’ll be skipping that region for this trip. Also, I’ve read that Sun Moon Lake tends to be more for local tourists, and while I appreciate unique atmospheres, I’ve had the chance to visit some stunning lakes in Europe.

Here is my itinerary:

***Day 1: Taipei***

**Day 4: Chiayi (Alishan)**

***Day 5: Chiayi – Tainan***

* **Afternoon: T**emples
* **Evening:** Sunset at Fort Provintia
* **Night:** YongLe Market – Shennong Street

***Day 9 Kenting – travel back to Taipei or Taichung***

\*\*\*Day 11: Taipei (\*\*\*Shifen, Yehliu, night Jiufen tour) – hoping that everything will still be open on Monday

***Day 12: Taipei***

* Slow day in Wulai for hot bath
* **Evening:** Ximending

***Day 13: Taipei***

* Buying souvenirs (Dihua Street/Ximending) or revisiting places I want to see again.

I would be grateful for any tips and advice! Honestly, I feel like this isn’t a really effective route. I still have a day to plan but I’m not sure what to do. I have considered hiking in Yangmingshan (but it seems to be a struggle to do it on my own with public transportation), or staying a day in Taichung. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I haven’t booked any hotels yet, so I am still flexible, but I have planned to stay next to the main train station each time.

Thank you so much!!!
