I’m currently in the process of planning a three months solo travel trip to Europe and am a bit stuck on whether to stay in hostels or not. I’m definietly not the type of person who cant spend time by themself, I value my alone time so so much and I dont feel like going on this trip alone will make me feel lonely.

HOWEVER! I’d love to make some friends along the way so that my time can seem lively and not just me seeing the sights and eating dinner by myself every night you know? In a dream world I’d be able to make friends in hostels and they end up gong to the same city as me at the same time so I would at least have a couple people to share my trip with, but does this happen often? I’m also Australian so I’m expecting to see at least 1 Aussie in every hostel I go to which should make it easier to socialise and spark conversation LOL

So, how easy is it to find people to chat with/go to dinner or a bar with/share a meal in the hostel with? Just small events so I’m not completely isolated the whole time.

is it worth sacrificing my comfort for a cheaper hostel to make those connections or is it going to be difficult to do so, therefore should I spring for a slightly more expensive but comfortable hotel by myself?
